Welcome home g-parents!

Kayla was waiting anxiously for all of her grandparents to come out of customs at Dulles after their flight back from the UK...It was hard being without them for 3 weeks! But they had a fabulous time! And it's soooo great having them all home!!! We spent the weekend enjoying their homecoming, hearing their stories and learning about all of the sights that they saw...and then they spoiled us with a bunch of gifts! Thanks for coming home to us....we love you guys~!

Welcome to the world, Jacob!

Bonnie had her little boy, Jacob, today. There were so many thoughts running through my mind as I was talking to her...all of those things a new mom doesn't yet know....they may imagine...but they don't really know. Like the pure joy that first smile is going to bring, or how when you hold that baby in your arms you're going to feel a happiness and contentment like you've never felt before. Or the fact that, when you wake for the first time from a deep sleep without it being jostled from a babies cry, rather than relief you're actually going to feel fear that something is wrong. And you will go into their room just to make sure they're okay. Or the number of times you will feel their tummy or back when they're in a deep sleep just to make sure they're still breathing...and then you will breathe a sigh of relief knowing they're okay. Or the exhilarating amazement you will feel as they start to discover how to do new things...like feed themselves, or turn the pages of a book, or dance, or walk...the little miracle that you know is all yours...that you created. What a journey that lies ahead of you my dear Bon Bon! Congratulations!!!

The best of times...

I swear every milestone Kayla reaches I keep thinking that this is the age I'm going to love the most...and then I love the next one even more! I can't get enough of her right now...she is just the cutest little thing. She is so good at just "going with the flow" and keeping up with her very active mom and dad. She gets so excited about the littlest thing...her big thing right now is walking up to you and hugging your legs and squeezing until you pick her up. She does it to whomever is the closest one in sight...she still loves being picked up and cuddled. Wonder how much longer that is going to last...I'm going to take advantage of it as much as I can because I know it won't last much longer!

Weekend at the lake with Brook and friends...

So this weekend we went down to the lake and spent it with Brook and all of his VMI buds, wives and children. We had a fantastic time...it was so great seeing all of those guys again and seeing how great they're doing with their families, etc. They all have absolutely beautiful children and wives...We went down to the sandbar on Saturday and hung out and floated around. Kayla absolutely loved it...I think she must have been in the water for about 2 hours and loved it the entire time...rode around on our shoulders and splashed in the water laughing at herself the whole time.

Brook's going to kill me for posting this...but here he is ~ the master of festivities himself. If Natty Light is looking for a model I think they found one in my big bro!

Do you think Cali's afraid of falling off? This dog loves boating and water so much...she lives quite the life for a dog!

Okay...so you get the idea. She loves to dance :0) Although in this video she's actually got some moves! Dancing while shoving cheese in your face...there's nothing like it!

Girls, Girls, Girls!

Our morning began with a dance party, per the usual.

Then, on our way to the lake we stopped at Bear's house and Lauren and Sara came over to play in the pool...we had a ton of fun floating around. Lauren is the cutest thing...if you ever wondered what Sara Rose was like as a baby ~ I think we can now see...she is her mom to a T! Here are Sara and Bear floating with the girls...
Little Lauren...
Insert two fingers in mouth, grab blanket and it's sleepy time!

These feet are made for walking!

It's official...Kayla's a walker~! She's been taking 5-7 steps for the past few weeks but hasn't been venturing out past that...and then today...voila! Happy birthday Grandpa! We woke up this morning and she just started walking around. I couldn't get enough of her...and she was so proud of herself - it was so cute! If people start watching her she'll stop in her tracks...but then she'll keep going on her little mission. Here's a short video...not the best but you get the idea. She wasn't too crazy about "performing" for the camera :-)

School night pool time at Ellen's pool!

Kayla is becoming quite the waterbaby! She loves going to the pool, splashing in the water and trying to swim...it's so hard to keep her out of the water these days...she just wants more, more, more!

Beach babies love to boogie!

Kayla is such a beach baby! She loves putting her toes in the sand and sitting in the water. I have a feeling she's going to be an adventurous little one...very little seems to frighten her.

We spent the weekend with Cherie and Brook and family and had a wonderful time...we boated a lot. Spent a day on Assateague Island...a barrier island off the coast of Maryland which is known for the wild horses that roam there. Although we didn't see any wild horses, we did use their paths for our own little adventure through the island. It was an awesome time!
Watch the slideshow for a glimpse of our fun time at the beach!!!

Kayla also has gotten used to putting her life jacket on and has since become quite the little boater...I think the rhythm makes her sleepy. She loves to take her naps while cruising along...but she also loves to watch the wakeboarders behind the boat...especially when it's her mommy!
Do you think Kayla was worn out from her weekend?

July 4th Weekend!

Kayla and cousin Andrew celebrating July 4th Weekend! Kayla got the whole family sick by giving them all a bug she picked up at daycare...but as her Uncle Brook said...she was the cutest little bacteria infestation carrier we'd ever seen~
We still found time to get out on the wakeboard...with stomach virus and all~ Here I am!
